Size and Nature of Projaect
The Club at Shannondell Outdoor Pool was truly a Design/Build project carefully coordinated between Paul Risk Associates, Inc., the Owner, and Wade Associates, Inc. to create a one-of-a-kind outdoor 8,000 SF community water park. PRA’s involvement began early due to our extensive background in pool construction. During the design process, PRA worked through the design details with all of the team members while reviewing the cost implications of concepts and ideas.
This in-ground pool is formed by reinforced concrete walls with poured concrete curbs and tile facings. The zero entry is faced with seven feet of anti-skid tiles. The interior finish of the pool is plaster. The highlight features of the water park include a zero entry ramp, and alcove toddler area with a Palm Tree, Dew Drop, and Shower Tower water features. The middle section of the pool includes an Arch Jet, Trio of Fun, and Rain Drop feature for the larger children to interact with. The deepest end of the pool features two 75-foot long lap lanes. By far the most impressive feature of the water park is the 104-foot long double ‘S’ enclosed tube slide. The pool is carefully designed to provide separation of the various activities and age groups in a unique custom configuration. The 4,000 square foot bathhouse and snack bar complete the project.
Length of Project
The first phase of the project, excavation, piping and the concrete shell, was Oct. 26, 2005 through December 21, 2005. The second phase, pool finishes, water toy installation and filter system installation, began March 20 and ended May 25, 2006, for a total construction time of four months.
